Pageant life.
One thing I don’t post often about, is one of my other main passions in life aside from outdoor adventure… Pageants.
Now pageants still have a pretty negative stigma attached to them even in 2018. So I feel like it’s time I focus on sharing my experiences as a competetor and talk about how pageants have changed my life so far.
Before getting into to much detail, first let me fill you in on my involvement in pageants so far…
Although I dreamed about competing from the second I could walk in my first set of plastic dress-up heels, I actually only began competing in 2016. It took me that long to gain enough confidence to begin to persue my dream.
I first competed at the Miss West Yorkshire 2016 finals, with no prior experience (or knowledge) and managed to win the title on Miss Congeniality WY 2016. This was extremely important to me as the title was awarded to the person that had the most votes from the other finalist for being the kindest and most welcoming girl, (which was just about the biggest confidence booster anyone could ever wish for when just starting out!)
I then went on the compete a few months later in the Supermodel Leeds 2016 final where I did not place, but gained lots of useful experience and new life long friends that I am still in regular contact with today. In March 2017 I then went on the win my first crown, being awarded Miss Leeds GB 2017/18. This title has been a real honour for me and has presented me with so much opportunity over the last year.
After being crowned Miss Leeds GB 2017, I then went on the represent the city of Leeds in the Miss Great Britain 2017 finals later on that year, which was by far up there with one of the most amazing experiences of my life so far. Again I did not place in the top 15, but I fulfilled my dream to stand on the Miss GB stage and compete alongside 49 of the most inspiring and beautiful ladies I have ever met.
So there we go! The secret of the pageants is out… More to come on both the emotional and physical effects that pageants have had on my life and how I became addicted to life on stage.
